Black cumin oil – a trending superfood

A while ago I had a chat with my lovely natural cosmetics expert about my strange skin irritations. She adviced that I could try using black cumin oil. Just putting it on my skin before going to bed. And voila I guess it was the best advice I ever got. Thank you, Sabrina!

Since then I see black cumin oil almost everywhere in the stores and I was wondering what other power this oil has and what it actually is. So I started some investigations and would like to share my findings with you.

What is black cumin oil?

The prophet Mohammed already said more than 1300 years ago: “Black cumin heals every disease – except death”. Black cumin has been used as a spice and natural remedy for already more than 2000 years in the Orient and Mediterranean countries. It just started to become well known in the industrialized countries within the last years.

Black cumin oil is so effective due to its ingredients, as long as it is cold-pressed. Unsaturated fatty acids such as linoleic acid, which cannot be produced by the body itself, make up the largest proportion of it. The essential oils contained in it have an antioxidant and disinfecting effect. In addition, black cumin oil also contains countless important minerals such as zinc, selenium, magnesium and amino acids as well as several vitamins, which make this time-tested remedy so effective in the application for skin, hair, and our organism.

What can you use it for?

You can use black cumin oil for several different problems you may face.

  • Support your immune system: Black cumin oil is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiviral.
  • Supports a healthy digestive system: In the case of gastrointestinal problems, black cumin oil can also have a regulating effect, alleviate gastritis symptoms and reduce intestinal parasites or intestinal fungi. Guess why it is used as a spice besides its taste.
  • Balancing effect on the hormone balance.
  • Smoothes dry or irritated skin: Thanks to the many important fatty acids, black cumin oil can also have a supportive effect on neurodermatitis, psoriasis, and dry skin.

How can you intake it?

In order to strengthen the immune system, you can take one teaspoon of the oil daily about one hour before breakfast. In case the taste is too strong for you, you can mix it with a bit of freshly squeezed juice.

For skin problems, you simply can use it as an addition to your daily skin care.

Important to know

In order to have a benefit of the black cumin seed oil the quality should be taken into account when purchasing. The oil should be cold pressed and chemically processed.
